This article looks at how lack of sleep can affect your learning potential.

Do you use your car for getting to school? You had better use your seat belt and buckle up considering many car crashes today are caused by lack of sleep or insomnia. Chances are you are not getting the right amount of sleep at night and you need to sleep more. Sleep depravation doesn't just cause physical tiredness; it can affect the function of your brain too. This article looks at how lack of sleep can affect your learning potential.

The national sleeping foundation states that eighty five percent of students get to little sleep at night. So what is a healthy amount of sleep? Whilst the answers to this question do vary, the approximate amount seems to be 8.5 hours of sleep per night. So if eighty five percent of students are suffering from sleep depravation, then just from lying in bed, relaxing, and falling asleep could gain you a major edge in the classroom.

Lack of sleep gets in the way of a persons ability to pay attention, be creative, communication and problem solving. If these symptoms are familiar to you, they are also symptoms of attention deficit disorder that many learners experience. Studies have shown that lack of sleep can lead to poor results in the classroom.

The secret to being able to sleep more is to give sleep a bigger priority in our life. Many of us have a sleep schedule that treats sleep as a low priority. While this is very common, it is not really a healthy habit. People need incentives to help to encourage them to make sleep more of a priority. Some ideas could be to investing in a new set of soft sheets or to put some soothing music on the radio or music center.

Once a student finds a way of sleeping better positive results should be instant. Grades will go up because of better quality work. There will be a large increase in energy which could be converted into more productive working time.

It has been noted if you sleep more there are many other fringe benefits besides helping you learn better. When the body gets at least eight hour sleep you wake up with more energy which will lead to a more full filling life style. Also having more sleep will contribute to feeling relaxed and happier.
